Dr. McAllister has a holistic philosophy of medicine. He believes mental, emotional, and physical components all need to be adequately addressed in order to achieve optimal health. Dr. McAllister combines the best of modern medicine with the most effective alternative therapies in order to offer a customized approach to each person’s health challenged that’s specifically tailored to their individual needs.
Dr. McAllister is an expert in botanical medicine and combines other holistic therapies like diet/exercise modifications, nutritional supplementation, prolotherapy, craniosacral, applied kinesiology, and homeopathy to treat his patients. He considers himself a family practice doctor and treats all manner of conditions from gastro-intestinal problems, anxiety and depression, musculoskeletal disorders, autoimmune conditions, environmental toxicity, and men’s health.
Dr. McAllister received specialized trained in Prolotherapy, which is a type of injection therapy designed to rehabilitate damaged tendons, ligaments, and joints as well as reduce pain. He finds this therapy extremely effective and one of the few that adequately addresses these issues.
Dr. McAllister is a California licensed Naturopathic Doctor and Registered Herbalist. He graduated with honors from the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, Arizona. He then went on to complete a residency in general medicine at the Southwest Naturopathic Medical Center.
He is currently adjunct faculty at Bastyr University in San Diego where he teaches Botanical medicine and orthopedics. He also teaches several courses in Botanical Medicine at the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts.
Dr. McAllister is originally from Maine where he was instilled with an intense fascination with nature. In his free time he enjoys foreign travel, cooking, hiking, and wildflower photography.
