Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture: Natural Alternative for Skin Care and Health

Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture has been practiced in China for many centuries. Today it is used as a non-invasive and natural alternative for facial skin care and health. I have been using my own approach to facial rejuvenation on my skin for over 20 years using acupressure, acupuncture and therapeutic facial massage. Oriental Medicine theories emphasize the connections between our organs, parts of the body, and our mind and emotions. Our skin is the body’s largest organ and quite receptive to Oriental Medicine techniques. The look of our skin is dependent on the health of our internal organs, and having enough qi and blood to adequately nourish it. Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture uses body points and facial points to bring qi and blood to local areas which rejuvenate the skin in a natural, healthy and holistic way. Facial rejuvenation is as much about balancing our internal health as it is about improving the complexion of the skin.

What does Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture consist of?

A course of treatment typically lasts 10 to 12 sessions. The first appointment includes a thorough consultation and a skin analysis.  A Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture session takes about 90 minutes for the initial appointment (follow-on sessions will take 60 minutes).

  1. Integrative Acupuncture Treatment.

The finest of needles are gently inserted into the areas of focus on the face to increase local circulation of blood and to encourage the natural regeneration process of your skin. Facial acupuncture is stimulating the production of collagen, which improves skin elasticity and helps to smooth out the appearances of facial wrinkles. It can also be beneficial for decreasing inflammation, tightening the pores, helping with puffy eyes, and to provide overall nourishment to the skin.

Skin problems are often the consequence of internal imbalances. Therefore, in addition to facial acupuncture, complementary and synergistic points are used on selected areas of the body. This integrated acupuncture treatment will help to improve the overall function of your internal system, strengthen the body’s vital energy, and create a more vibrant appearance.

  1. Organic Oils Facial Massage.

A therapeutic facial massage is performed with a nourishing and rejuvenating organic essential oils. A combination of acupressure, medical massage and relaxation techniques are employed to enhance the overall effects of the needles and herbs.

Visible results are typically seen within 7-8 treatments, but many will experience a positive change in 3-5 sessions. According to a study reported by The International Journal of Clinical Acupuncture among 300 patients treated with facial acupuncture, 90% had positive effects with one course of treatment. Effects included improvement in skin texture and coloring, and increased elasticity and overall rejuvenation. The results of a 10 session treatment will have a long lasting effect; however, follow-ups are recommended to be done once to twice a month after you complete your treatment course to maintain and enhance the effects.
